Lina Lapelyte: In The Dark, We Play

Ciné Lumière

6:30 pm, 2 December 2025

Join Lithuanian artist and composer Lina Lapelytė at Ciné Lumière for a screening of In the Dark, We Play (2025), conceived in collaboration with Nouria Bah, Anat Ben-David, Angharad Davies, Sharon Gal, Rebecca Horrox, and Martynas Norvaišas. Commissioned by The Cosmic House as part of our ongoing series exploring Post-Modern Cosmology, the film is part of a site-specific installation currently on view at the house.

Taking inspiration from the polyphonous nature of The Cosmic House and weaving in new contemporary voices, Lapelytė and her collaborators foreground the mundane and sensory, and invite intimate engagement with the house through their divergent elucidations of the cosmic. In the film, a series of scenes follow the performers as they ponder, commune, and weave new interpretations of cosmic themes. They playfully inhabit the house, drawing out some details and symbols and sliding past others – like the orbit of a singing comet that comes tantalisingly close before arching far away into mystery.

The screening will be accompanied by a conversation with Lina Lapelytė and Lev Bratishenko, Twister of Meaning and editor at The Cosmic House.

This event is organised with the generous support of the Lithuanian Embassy.

Film duration: 39min
